GOCO Biodegradable Hydraulic Fluids

Goco hydraulic fluids are available in ISO Grades 32, 46 and 68. Applications include:

  • Automotive Service Stations
  • Dredging Equipment
  • Mobile Bucket Lift Equipment
  • Construction Equipment
  • Shipboard Hydraulic Equipment
  • Submersible Pumps
  • Elevator Oil
  • Others

We are pleased to announce that as of September, 2000 that the New York City Transit Authority has awarded a contract to Goco for 5,000 gallons of biodegradable hydraulic oil for use as elevator oil.  This oil will be used by the Authority to replace petroleum elevator oil in every one of their passenger elevators, systemwide.

As for the construction industry, a huge potential market for biodegradable lubricants exists. Hence, the Green Oil Company is a proud member of the Corporate Advisory Board of the Civil Engineering Research Foundation.

The Green Oil Company already has good experience in major construction. See applications-examples.

Note: Hydraulic fluid hoses will always have a tendency to break, due mostly to snagged lines and the fact that the machinery they operate in runs hot. Actually, other things equal, GOCO hydraulic fluids run cooler in machinery because the canola oil is more slippery, causing less friction. It is heat that attacks the seals that causes the lines to break.

The result is a spill that can be very costly to clean up. In some cases, the cost of clean up exceeds the value of the property where the spill took place. It is not unusual for the spilled oil to travel to adjacent properties, which also may require costly clean-up.

Note also that canola oil based lubricants do have heat limitations that are more restrictive than petroleum lubricants. Care should be taken to account for these limitations. European construction and forestry equipment contractors do use these canola oil based lubricants extensively; and they account for their high-temperature limitations by working around them.
